How do I deal with important anniversaries?
Significant anniversaries and life events, such as birthdays, going to university, or the day your sibling died can provoke a lot of emotions.
It’s important to talk to people about how you feel. You might also want to tell your teachers or friends that important dates are coming up so they can support you.
Some people take comfort in finding ways to remember their brother or sister on important dates.
Here are some things you could do:
Pick some flowers and take them to a special place.
Visit a place that you used to enjoy going to together.
Hold an event like a sponsored walk, a fundraising quiz night, a cake sale, or a raffle in their memory.
Watch their favourite film.
Plant a memory heart.
Make a memory box filled with photos, cards, toys, jewellery, or clothes.
